Jacobsen Tree Experts, Inc. has maintained a standard of excellence since 1961. We currently employ 21 people and do quality residential, commercial and line clearance work for our customers in Minnesota, South Dakota and Iowa. We also respond to natural disasters for emergency debris cleanup and hazardous tree trimming and removals nationwide. Our expert team of certified arborists has the knowledge, skills and tools to maintain your trees and landscape by providing a variety of services.
1961: Garold "Jake" Jacobsen first founded Jacobsens Tree Service whose primary focus was municipalities in central Minnesota. The business name was handed down to his eldest son and "Jake" formed Jacobsen Line Clearing. Bill Jacobsen, the youngest son, grew up with the industry and worked summers while in school since he can remember. After highschool Bill ventured off and tested other waters, but he soon returned to the family owned business.
1991: Bill and his wife Cathleen took over the company and formed Jacobsen Tree Service, Inc. Bill became Owner/Operator while Cathleen managed the companies financials. Jake continued to work for the company in a foreman/operator position. Under the management of a more "risk taking" generation, the company expanded outward into Minnesota in both size and location. We began disaster response after a microburst hit Grand Forks, North Dakota in 2001 and have continued on ever since. Bill has managed projects from floods, tornadoes, ice damage and hurricanes nationwide. His reputation managing disaster projects and our crews skill and dedication have built us a strong foundation in this area that we take great pride in nationally.
Januay 2000: Bill and Cathleen were approached by a rural electric cooperative to sell a majority of the business to them and secure our interests. Bill, Cathleen and Jake continued to run and operate Jacobsen Tree Service in the same manner as before, but with the ability to expand our horizons into South Dakota and Iowa.
January 2003: Bill and Cathleen personally purchased a Sioux Falls, SD based company, 'Reliable Tree Service/Wood's Reliable Tree Service'. They came with a great reputation and gave us the opportunity to expand into an even more populated area with our services.
January 2006: All the original Jacobsens and several key employees left Jacobsen Tree Service to once again become an owner/operated company, named Jacobsen Tree Experts Inc. Our reputation has enabled us to keep past customers and look forward to one day working with you!
